26 березня 2026 року відбулося засідання Наукового семінару ГО Дидактика математики. Доповідь на тему "Цифровізація математичної освіти vs розвиток просторового мислення" зробили професор Ольга ЧАШЕЧНИКОВА, доктор педагогічних наук, завідувач кафедри математики, фізики та методик їх навчання, та доцент Оксана ОДІНЦОВА, кандидат фізико-математичних наук.

Обговорили нові виклики цифрової епохи: як зберегти якісну математичну освіту в умовах тотальної цифровізації, як використовувати цифрові інструменти з метою розвитку просторового мислення.

Обговорення було неформальним, змістовним, емоційним, оскільки тема доповіді є надзвичайно актуальною в умовах сьогоднення. На засіданні були присутні більше 60 фахівців із дидактики математики з різних регіонів країни. У обговоренні доповіді взяли участь професор Олександр Школьний (Київ), доценти Світлана Лук'янова (Київ), Вадим Кірман (Дніпро), Ігор Зінов'єв (Запоріжжя), Віктор Лисиця (Харків), Петро Довбня (Переяслав), Наталія Сніжко (Запоріжжя), Наталія Маланюк (Київ).

On March 26, 2026, a meeting of the Scientific Seminar of the NGO “Mathematics Didactics” was held. A presentation on the topic “Digitalization of Mathematics Education vs. the Development of Spatial Thinking” was given by Professor Olga CHASHECHNIKOVA, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Methods of Teaching Them, and Associate Professor Oksana ODINTSOVA, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

They discussed the new challenges of the digital age: how to maintain high-quality mathematics education in the context of total digitalization, and how to use digital tools to develop spatial thinking.

The discussion was informal, substantive, and emotional, as the topic of the presentation is extremely relevant in today’s context. The meeting was attended by more than 60 specialists in mathematics education from various regions of the country. Participants in the discussion of the report included Professor Oleksandr Shkolnyi (Kyiv), Associate Professors Svitlana Lukyanova (Kyiv), Vadym Kirman (Dnipro), Igor Zinoviev (Zaporizhzhia), Viktor Lysytsia (Kharkiv), Petro Dovbnia (Pereiaslav), Natalia Snizhko (Zaporizhzhia), and Natalia Malaniuk (Kyiv).

Members of the NGO “International Association of Researchers in Mathematics Education” include professors from the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Methods of Teaching These Subjects: M.G. Drushlyak, T.D. Lukashova, O.S. Chashechnikova, and associate professors O.O. Odintsova, Y.V. Khvorostina, Y.O. Chkana, and I.V. Shyshenko.

28 лютого 2026 року відбулася міжнародна наукова конференція «1461 Days of Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion of Ukraine: The Struggle Continues», присвячена всім, хто боровся і продовжує боротися за Україну. Захід організовано University of the Commission of National Education (UKEN) спільно з Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) за участі Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research on Wars and Catastrophes. Конференція стала міждисциплінарною платформою осмислення історичних, політичних, соціальних, культурних та гуманітарних вимірів війни. У заході взяли участь науковці з Польщі, України, Фінляндії, Туреччини, Молдови та США.

У межах програми на запрошення організаторів з онлайн-доповіддю «Public Initiative Groups as Drivers of Territorial Resilience in the Context of Full-Scale War» виступив представник СумДПУ – д.е.н., проф. Віталій Омельяненко. У доповіді було представлено результати наукових досліджень щодо українського досвіду локальних ініціативних проєктів як драйверів територіальної резильєнтності та посилення спроможності громад в умовах повномасштабної війни. Акцент зроблено на значенні самоорганізації та інтеграції громадянських ініціатив у процеси відновлення територій. Доповідь представника СумДПУ викликала інтерес аудиторії та захоплення представленими ініціативами громад України, зокрема Сумської області.

Участь у міжнародній конференції підтверджує активну експертну позицію українських науковців у глобальному академічному просторі та сприяє посиленню міжнародної співпраці у сфері досліджень територіальної стійкості, відновлення громад та інноваційного розвитку в умовах війни.

On February 28, 2026, an international academic conference titled “1461 Days of Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion of Ukraine: The Struggle Continues” was held, dedicated to all those who have fought and continue to fight for Ukraine. The event was organized by the University of the Commission of National Education (UKEN) in collaboration with Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), with the participation of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Research on Wars and Catastrophes. The conference served as an interdisciplinary platform for examining the historical, political, social, cultural, and humanitarian dimensions of the war. The event was attended by scholars from Poland, Ukraine, Finland, Turkey, Moldova, and the United States.

As part of the program, at the invitation of the organizers, a representative of Sumy State Pedagogical University—Dr. Vitalii Omelianenko, Professor of Economics—delivered an online presentation titled “Public Initiative Groups as Drivers of Territorial Resilience in the Context of Full-Scale War.” The presentation showcased the results of research on Ukraine’s experience with local initiative projects as drivers of territorial resilience and the strengthening of community capacity in the context of full-scale war. Emphasis was placed on the importance of self-organization and the integration of civic initiatives into territorial recovery processes. The presentation by the Sumy State Pedagogical University representative sparked the audience’s interest and admiration for the initiatives of Ukrainian communities, particularly those in the Sumy region.

Participation in the international conference confirms the active expert role of Ukrainian scholars in the global academic community and contributes to strengthening international cooperation in the field of research on territorial resilience, community recovery, and innovative development in wartime conditions.

28 березня 2026 року в онлайн-форматі відбулася обласна науково-практична конференція «Перший крок у науку», організована Сумським територіальним відділенням МАН України.

Модератором заходу в секції астрономії та фізики виступила Салтикова А. І., доцентка кафедри математики, фізики та методик їх навчання Сумського державного педагогічного університету імені А. С. Макаренка.

У конференції взяли участь здобувачі закладів загальної середньої освіти Сумської області (починаючи з 7-го класу), які представили свої перші наукові напрацювання. Також долучилися студенти фізико-математичного факультету з цікавою презентацією про магію чисел.

Доповіді були змістовними та цікавими, а представлені роботи активно обговорювалися.

Дякуємо всім учасникам за активність, допитливість і перші кроки в науці! Особлива подяка науковим керівникам! Усі — молодці!

We continue our collaboration with the Regional Center for Extracurricular Education and Work with Gifted Youth!

On March 28, 2026, the regional scientific and practical conference “First Step into Science,” organized by the Sumy Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, was held online.

The event in the astronomy and physics section was moderated by A. I. Saltykova, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Methods of Teaching at the A. S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University.

The conference was attended by students from general secondary education institutions in the Sumy region (starting from 7th grade), who presented their first scientific works. Students from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics also joined in with an interesting presentation on the magic of numbers.

The presentations were informative and engaging, and the works presented were actively discussed.

Thank you to all participants for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and first steps in science! Special thanks to the research advisors! Well done, everyone!

27.02.2026 р. для здобувачів освіти магістерського рівня спеціальності «Середня освіта (Інформатика)» та молодих дослідників PhD-програм відбувся майстер-клас, присвячений використанню Zotero як інструмента для впорядкування наукових джерел і автоматизації цитування. Вів майстер-клас канд.пед.н., доц. каф.інформатики, член редколегії фахових видань «Фізико-математична освіта» та «Освіта. Інноватика. Практика» А. Юрченко, який наочно на прикладах показав, як використання додатку Zotero допомагає розв’язати типові проблеми під час роботи з літературою: неструктуроване зберігання PDF-файлів, дублювання джерел, помилки в посиланнях, плутанину зі стилями цитування та складність швидкого пошуку потрібної публікації.

Учасники майстеркласу ознайомилися з базовими можливостями Zotero як безкоштовного менеджера бібліографії з відкритим кодом. Було акцентовано, що інструмент дає змогу створити централізовану бібліотеку джерел для кваліфікаційної роботи, статей та інших наукових робіт, а також підтримує автоматичне цитування під час написання тексту.

Під час демонстрації розглянули основні сценарії роботи в Zotero: додавання джерел із вебсторінок і наукометричних баз, імпорт PDF з автоматичним розпізнаванням метаданих, організацію бібліотеки через колекції, підколекції, теги й нотатки, а також роботу з PDF (виділення, коментарі, примітки). Окремий блок був присвячений автоматичному вставленню цитат у текстовому редакторі та швидкому формуванню списку літератури у потрібному стилі.

Практична частина майстеркласу була побудована як покроковий алгоритм: встановлення Zotero і браузерного конектора, створення облікового запису для синхронізації, побудова структури колекцій за розділами дослідження, додавання джерел і генерація списку літератури в різних стилях (зокрема APA та IEEE). Такий підхід дав змогу учасникам одразу побачити, як Zotero спрощує роботу з джерелами та зменшує ризик технічних помилок у науковому тексті.

On February 27, 2026, a workshop was held for master’s students majoring in “Secondary Education (Computer Science)” and young researchers in PhD programs, focusing on the use of Zotero as a tool for organizing academic sources and automating citations. The master class was led by A. Yurchenko, Ph.D. in Education, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science, and member of the editorial board of the professional journals “Physics and Mathematics Education” and “Education. Innovation. Practice," who used examples to demonstrate how the Zotero application helps solve common problems when working with literature: unstructured storage of PDF files, duplication of sources, errors in references, confusion with citation styles, and the difficulty of quickly finding the desired publication.

Workshop participants familiarized themselves with the basic features of Zotero as a free, open-source bibliography manager. It was emphasized that the tool allows users to create a centralized library of sources for theses, articles, and other academic works, and also supports automatic citation while writing.

During the demonstration, we reviewed the main workflows in Zotero: adding sources from web pages and scientometric databases, importing PDFs with automatic metadata recognition, organizing the library using collections, subcollections, tags, and notes, as well as working with PDFs (highlighting, comments, and annotations). A separate section was devoted to automatically inserting citations in a text editor and quickly generating a reference list in the desired style.

The practical part of the workshop was structured as a step-by-step guide: installing Zotero and the browser connector, creating an account for synchronization, organizing collections by research sections, adding sources, and generating a reference list in various styles (including APA and IEEE). This approach allowed participants to immediately see how Zotero simplifies working with sources and reduces the risk of technical errors in academic texts.

24 лютого 2026 р. у межах курсу «Сучасні ІТ в наукових дослідженнях» PhD-програм відбулася бінарна лекція за участю О. Семеніхіної (викладачки курсу) та А. Юрченка (запрошеного науковця-практика, кандидата педагогічних наук, доцента кафедри інформатики СумДПУ імені А. С. Макаренка). У фокусі теми було використання VOSviewer для підтримки наукового дослідження: розглядалася робота з бібліометричними даними та візуалізація зв’язків між публікаціями, авторами і ключовими словами за певним тематичним напрямом.

Під час лекції було розглянуто, як інструменти бібліометричного аналізу допомагають швидше сформувати якісний огляд літератури, визначити актуальні наукові тренди, виявити провідних авторів і наукові школи, а також обґрунтувати наукову новизну дослідження. Окрему увагу приділено тому, що бібліометрія дає змогу не лише описати поле дослідження, а й побачити структуру зв’язків між напрямами, темами та публікаціями.

У практичній частині лекції А. Юрченко показав логіку роботи у VOSviewer: від пошуку публікацій у міжнародних базах даних (Web of Science, Scopus) до експорту бібліографічних записів і побудови мереж ключових слів, цитування та співавторства. Також було пояснено, як інтерпретувати бібліометричну карту: що означають вузли, кластери, лінії зв’язку та відстані між елементами. Це дало здобувачам освіти не лише технічне розуміння інструмента, а й уявлення про його дослідницьку цінність.

Лекція показала, що VOSviewer може бути ефективним засобом стратегічного планування наукової роботи: для формування огляду літератури, пошуку «білих плям» у темі та уточнення власної дослідницької траєкторії. Такий формат бінарного заняття поєднав методичний супровід курсу та практичний досвід роботи з сучасними цифровими засобами у реальному науковому процесі.

On February 24, 2026, as part of the course “Modern IT in Scientific Research” PhD programs, a joint lecture was held featuring O. Semenikhina (course instructor) and A. Yurchenko (guest researcher and practitioner, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko). The focus of the topic was the use of VOSviewer to support scientific research: the lecture covered working with bibliometric data and visualizing connections between publications, authors, and keywords within a specific thematic area.

During the lecture, it was discussed how bibliometric analysis tools help to quickly generate a high-quality literature review, identify current research trends, pinpoint leading authors and research schools, and substantiate the scientific novelty of a study. Particular attention was paid to the fact that bibliometrics allows one not only to describe the field of research but also to visualize the structure of connections between research areas, topics, and publications.

In the practical part of the lecture, A. Yurchenko demonstrated how VOSviewer works: from searching for publications in international databases (Web of Science, Scopus) to exporting bibliographic records and constructing networks of keywords, citations, and co-authorship. He also explained how to interpret a bibliometric map: what nodes, clusters, connection lines, and distances between elements mean. This gave the students not only a technical understanding of the tool but also an idea of its research value.

The lecture demonstrated that VOSviewer can be an effective tool for strategic planning of research work: for compiling a literature review, identifying “gaps” in a topic, and refining one’s own research trajectory. This format of a hybrid session combined methodological guidance for the course with practical experience working with modern digital tools in the actual research process.

У коментарі до фотографії додається: «We believe that universities should be beacons of freedom and humanity. Raising your flag is our way of saying that we stand with you during this difficult time.» (Ми вважаємо, що університети мають бути маяками свободи та людяності. Підняти ваш прапор – наш спосіб сказати, що ми поруч у цей складний період).

Це символічний жест солідарності у важкі часи, який зміцнює академічні зв’язки між закладами.

У 2022 році між Бріджуотерським державним університетом, агентством Співдружності штату Массачусетс, США та Сумським державним педагогічним університетом імені А.С. Макаренка було укладено угоду про співпрацю та спільні теми у сфері освіти і наукових досліджень. Відповідно до угоди, студенти фізико-математичного факультету СумДПУ імені А.С. Макаренка щорічно проходили семестрове навчання в BSU.

Ми дякуємо Президенту університету Frederick W. Clark та всьому колективу BSU за цей потужний символічний жест. Нехай прапор України на вашому флагштоку продовжує надихати та об’єднувати наші спільноти. 

Окрім цього члени університетської спільноти та організації Educators United for Ukraine опублікували відкрите звернення до спільноти університету Bridgewater State University (США) з нагоди четвертої річниці повномасштабного вторгнення росії в Україну (24 лютого 2022 року). Це політична та моральна заява університетської спільноти США на підтримку України, яка: засуджує російське вторгнення, відкидає російські пропагандистські наративи, виступає проти територіальних поступок агресору, наголошує на необхідності справедливого миру та відповідальності за воєнні злочини. 

Також від ініціативної групи Educators United for Ukraine було поширено внутрішній лист до викладачів Bridgewater State University (BSU). Його мета — запропонувати викладачам нагадати студентам на заняттях про четверту річницю повномасштабного вторгнення росії в Україну і про ті злочини, що коїть російська армія.

Colleagues from Bridgewater State University (BSU) sent a photo showing the Ukrainian flag raised near the university’s main building (Boyden Hall) as a sign of support for the A.S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University and Ukraine as a whole. The caption accompanying the photo reads: “We believe that universities should be beacons of freedom and humanity. Raising your flag is our way of saying that we stand with you during this difficult time.”

This is a symbolic gesture of solidarity in difficult times, which strengthens academic ties between institutions.

In 2022, an agreement on cooperation and joint projects in the fields of education and scientific research was signed between Bridgewater State University, the Massachusetts Commonwealth Agency (USA), and the A.S. Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University. Under the agreement, students from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko have been spending a semester each year studying at BSU.

We thank University President Frederick W. Clark and the entire BSU community for this powerful symbolic gesture. May the Ukrainian flag on your flagpole continue to inspire and unite our communities.

In addition, members of the university community and the organization Educators United for Ukraine have published an open letter to the Bridgewater State University community (U.S.) on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine (February 24, 2022). This is a political and moral statement by the U.S. university community in support of Ukraine, which: condemns the Russian invasion, rejects Russian propaganda narratives, opposes territorial concessions to the aggressor, and emphasizes the need for a just peace and accountability for war crimes.

Additionally, the initiative group Educators United for Ukraine circulated an internal letter to faculty members at Bridgewater State University (BSU). Its purpose is to encourage faculty to remind students in their classes about the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the crimes being committed by the Russian military.

We sincerely thank our esteemed colleagues at Bridgewater State University for your steadfast support of Ukraine and Ukrainian students during these challenging times. It is very important to us to feel the solidarity of the international academic community. We deeply appreciate your efforts to support Ukrainian students and to keep the spotlight on the events unfolding in Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful for your compassion, support, and academic solidarity.

19 лютого 2026 року відбувся майстер-клас докторки педагогічних наук, професорки Марини ДРУШЛЯК (Сумський державний педагогічний університет) про цифрові інструменти, які підтримують підготовку дисертаційного дослідження, з особливим акцентом на автоматизацію пошуку, добору, аналізу та систематизації наукових публікацій за ключовими словами дослідження.
У центрі уваги був саме порівняльний підхід: де доречно використовувати інструменти на основі штучного інтелекту (для семантичного пошуку, узагальнення, ідей і первинного аналізу текстів), а де надійніше спиратися на спеціалізовані програмні засоби, що працюють із бібліометрією, цитуваннями, бібліографічними описами та візуалізацією дослідницького поля. Як приклади були розглянуті:
- інструменти пошуку джерел у базах та пошукових системах (зокрема Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar), а також Open Ukrainian Citation Index (OUCI);
- сервіси картографування дослідницького ландшафту на основі цитувань (Connected Papers, ResearchRabbit, Litmaps) і принципи їх роботи та переваги для орієнтації в масивах літератури;
- інструменти семантичного пошуку та огляду літератури на основі мовного моделювання (Consensus, Elicit, Scite AI, Iris AI тощо);
- менеджери бібліографічних описів (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, Grafiati) як опора для прозорої організації джерельної бази й коректного оформлення посилань.
Окремий блок був присвячений практикам відповідального застосування ШІ у дослідженні: учасники обговорили, що ШІ може прискорювати рутинні операції (структурування, первинне узагальнення, пошук релевантних праць), але не замінює критичне мислення й не знімає відповідальності за точність інтерпретацій, добір джерел і коректність академічного письма.
Участь у майстер-класі взяли аспіранти різних спеціальностей, у т.ч. спеціальності «Професійна освіта», що дозволило обговорити інструменти на міждисциплінарних прикладах і показати переносимість підходів до автоматизації огляду літератури. До майстер-класу долучилися магістри ОП «Середня освіта (інформатика)», для яких тематика майстер-класу водночас є складником дослідницької підготовки й елементом професійної цифрової компетентності майбутнього педагога.

On February 19, 2026, Dr. Marina DRUSHLYAK, Professor of Education (Sumy State Pedagogical University), led a workshop on digital tools that support the preparation of dissertation research, with a particular focus on automating the search, selection, analysis, and systematization of scientific publications based on research keywords.
The focus was specifically on a comparative approach: where it is appropriate to use artificial intelligence-based tools (for semantic search, generalization, idea generation, and preliminary text analysis), and where it is more reliable to rely on specialized software tools that work with bibliometrics, citations, bibliographic descriptions, and visualization of the research field. The following examples were considered:
- tools for searching sources in databases and search engines (including Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar), as well as the Open Ukrainian Citation Index (OUCI);
- services for mapping the research landscape based on citations (Connected Papers, ResearchRabbit, Litmaps) and the principles of their operation and advantages for navigating large bodies of literature;
- tools for semantic search and literature review based on language modeling (Consensus, Elicit, Scite AI, Iris AI, etc.);
- bibliographic management tools (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, Grafiati) as a foundation for transparent organization of the reference base and proper citation formatting.

A separate session was devoted to practices for the responsible use of AI in research: participants discussed how AI can streamline routine tasks (structuring, initial summarization, searching for relevant works), but does not replace critical thinking and does not absolve one of responsibility for the accuracy of interpretations, the selection of sources, and the correctness of academic writing.
Graduate students from various disciplines, including the “Vocational Education” program, participated in the workshop, which allowed for the discussion of tools using interdisciplinary examples and demonstrated the transferability of approaches to automating literature reviews. Master’s students from the “Secondary Education (Computer Science)” program joined the workshop; for them, the workshop’s topic serves both as a component of their research training and as an element of the future educator’s professional digital competence.
